John Rudy (WA3SPS)

John H. Rudy, 75, of Charleroi (Fallowfield
Township), died Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, at his
home. Born Jan. 2, 1931 in Daisytown, he was the
son of the late Michael and Julia Seaman Rudy. John
retired from Bethlehem Mine 60 in Bentleyville.
Additionally, he served four years with the U.S.
Navy and another 16 years in the U.S. Air Force,
retiring with the rank of staff sergeant. Included in
his military career was time spent in Alaska and on
the Texas Towers radar stations. John was the past
treasurer and president of the Texas Towers
Veteran Association. He was a member of St.
Anthony Catholic Church in Monongahela. Surviving
is his wife of 44 years, Bernice Gregory Rudy; three
sons, Gregory Rudy, of McKeesport, Scott Rudy, of
Export, and Jeffrey Rudy, of Winchester, Va.; a
daughter and son-in-law, Jane and James
Calladine,of Maple Heights, Ohio; three brothers,
George Rudy, of Coal Center, Andy Rudy, of Eighty
Four, and Paul Rudy, of Long Branch; a sister, Helen
Wayland, of Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren; and
numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in
death were two brothers, Michael and Joseph Rudy.
Friends will be received at the MARSHALL MARRA
FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela (724-
258-6767), from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. A
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday,
Oct. 3 in St. Anthony Catholic Church at 10 a.m.
with the Rev. Joseph Feltz as celebrant.
Entombment, with full Military Rites accorded by
the Mon Valley Honor Guard, will follow in Mon
Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
