FRANK "DOUGLAS" LAVISKA
Frank "Douglas" LaViska, 71, of Ballston Spa, passed away suddenly, at Ellis Hospital on Wednesday, March 24, 2010. Frank was born in Schenectady on November 14, 1938. Frank was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Mary Gasparovic LaViska.
He had lived in Ballston Spa for the past 36 years. Frank was a 1957 graduate of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Schools. He retired from the U.S. military, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps and transferred to the federal technician program with the U.S. Army, retiring in 1995. Frank was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Senior Citizens in Ballston Spa. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing skiing, boating and marksmanship.
He was also a ham operator.
Since his retirement he had enjoyed traveling and spending winters in his second home in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
Frank is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon Steinbrenner LaViska; one daughter, Kyle R. LaViska-Benn of Burnt Hills; and a grandson, Dalton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 29, at St. Mary's Church, Ballston Spa.
Interment will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 6 on Sunday, March 28 at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 25 Hyde Blvd., Ballston Spa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ballston Spa Emergency Squad. Arrangements by Wheeler Funeral Home, Ballston Spa.
