Eli Bell (K4FHG)
January 13,2001
Eli Bell was active on 50,144,432Mhz sideband in the Chattanooga Tennessee area. Was always one of the guys who would come back and answer your "CQ" when the bands seemed quiet. Loved to ragchew. Had a nice station and tower. For some time was battling diabetes I think, and recently had his second foot amputation. While I never met him, did seem to get to know him over the airwaves, which is so common in this hobby. Many other active "VHF-ers" in the southeast region will miss him and his big signal. I hope other new hams will carry on his gentleman-like operating style and get to know the fun on vhf sideband. I'll miss him.
