Bill Ferguson (NR0J)
January 29, 2001
Bill was one of a kind. He copied 35 wpm in his head and worked 10 mhz cw dx in his little pick up to and from work on the N. Cal peninsula. He invented rf direction finding antenna arrays for all frequencies and was last employed in the new wireless division of Cisco Systems. We were friends for 26 years, meeting in Aspen, Co. were Bill and his wife Chris and 3 kids lived on a very hard to get to spot 10k ft above sea level and 9 miles off the ac grid. We strung dipoles in the fir trees and worked the S.Pacific with an S0 noise level and 10 feet of drifting snow outside this little log cabin. The rig, lights etc were powered by solar panels in the trees.
There was nothing bill couldn't fix. Now he's working the real rare stuff. 73 and 88 my old friend.........wb2zab
