Robert "Dale" Piedfort (KB7UB)

Just heard from several sources that Dale ("Bubba") Piedfort had passed. He had been suffering from bladder cancer for some time; many hams remember Dale as the asst. manager of the Anaheim HRO store; for many years he was a great envoy for ham radio and a mentor to many hams and prospective hams; if you wanted a specific piece of equipment, he could usually put his hands on it in a few days; great guy;many of us will miss his humor, dinners with the "group" when he was in town, and his always valued opinion of any gear. I will always remember his kind-hearted "ribbing" about my preference of my Drake line over the Icom 7800. God rest your soul, Dale, and you are sorely missed.....

YES,many of us owe so much to DALE-KB7UB(UNCLE BUBBA).He was a dear friend & when I last spoke with him on Saturday(Field Day)he was in the hospital.He did NOT complain but just ask for my prayers which I gave on his behalf.I will miss his humor & his help on ANYTHING "ICOM"!May you rest in peace my friend & I'll see you again one day where sickness & pain have NO PLACE!

At the weekend, I learned that my dear friend Dale KB7UB had passed away last Friday. He had fought a very hard, but ultimately losing battle with cancer. Dale and I were always able to spend some time together at the Icom booth in Dayton. We frequently consulted on other Icom-related matters. There was always something new to learn from his extensive knowledge of the amateur radio industry. His friendly nature, sharp wit and wry sense of humour were an inspiration. May Dale be forever inscribed in the Book of Life.

I was saddened to learn of Dale's untimely passing. I worked with Dale during my employment at Icom and also at a few shows we worked as a contractors. Dale was always fun to work with. He always had a story but at the same time could communicate on any level with existing or prospective customers. He was as helpful as he could be with amateurs who had questions on their equipment. If he did not know the answer he would say so but would also make a good attempt to find the answer to the question. I shall miss him, his humor, knowledge and his smile.

I had the privilege of knowing Dale for 20+ years. His knowledge of ham radio was unsurpassed and he freely passed this knowledge to hundreds of hams over the years. Ham radio lost one of the good ones. Rest in Peace my friend!
