Springfield, IL Donald G. "Tommy" Thompson, 81, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away Thursday July 22, 2010 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1947-1955. During his service, he met Selma Joseph, also serving in the Navy and they married October 9, 1955. Don retired in December 1990 from the Illinois Bell Telephone (AT&T) after 35 years of service. He was a member of Christ the King Parish. Don was an avid and popular amateur "ham" radio operator. He was known in the ham radio community as "W9YCI". Please visit the online "Life Remembered Story" at where tributes and condolences may be left for the family.
