OM Sulu (A22GV)

2000

I met OM Sulu through my uncle - who when he learned that i had a ham ticket took me right away to meet OM Sulu who lived around the corner from him. A wonderful man with whom i spent many hours. His health was not good. I gave him a hand in rebuilding his broken 20m yagi and put up a multi-band delta loop. When he met me, his first reaction - you are too young to be in this hobby!. Since he did not have his own children, he took the hobby of stamp collecting to the kids and organised events. He encouraged me a lot to experiment. His love of Yaesu was forever. His eyes twinkled the moment, any Yaesu trx was mentioned - he ran with a FT-757GX. He is missed; in Feb I drove by his home when i visited A22 which is now vacant. May his deeds persevre amongst others. A true ham by all means.
