Carl Ayres (N6GJR)

9-01-10

It is with a heavy heart that I post the untimely passing of my good friend N6GJR Carl Ayres. That distinctive voice could be heard on 75, 40, 20, and all points in between. Carl's personality was simply magnetic. He would always help anyone on any project. I am going to miss my good friend. Rest in peace Carl. 73, Ralph W9CAR

Carl had a wit and humor that was contagious. You could not help but laugh at his comments and jokes, and he had some good ones. On a bad day Carl's spirit would up lift you to another level. My heart and prayers goes out to his family. I will miss N6 Great Japanese Radio on the air. Rest well my friend. "SAP" N0SAP

Carl and I go back a pretty long way. We spent many days, weeks and years conversing on 15M when it was working, 20 meters and 40 meters. His passing was a huge surprise and I will miss hearing his voice on the bands. Luckily I have a single sound bite of him talking to W6BMY, Bill who is also SK. Truly a gentleman ham and good father to his kids. 73 Carl... KD6ZR

What a truly good friend Carl was to ham radio. It only took your first QSO with Carl and he was your friend for ever. He was a dynamic personality on 40 meters and always a pleasure to talk with. I will truly miss you my friend.
