Richard Stauffer (K4DVW)
January 5,2001
I am deeply sorrowed to hear of the passing of Dick Stauffer (k4dvw) on the 5th of January 2001.
I only heard this past Monday through Bill Dewey ( w8coy) on the air here in Connecticut.
It was about a year ago that I last spoke to him. Dick was always in good spirits and used the phonetics of his call as Doing Very Well .
To those of you who didn't know him he was a paraplegic since the age of 18, it happen from a diving accident in Michagan, still that didn't stop him
from getting his degree and accomplishing many things in life. He was a great inspiration to all he touched. Although since my move back to
Connecticut we hadn't spoke much; I often thought of him and when I did I always had a big smile on my face. I keep thinking about the way he
would boss me around when I helped him with projects around the house and his shack, and all the great QSO's we had together on and off
the air. He was quite a character and I will miss him dearly. Dick leaves a wife, daughter and a grandchilden. Dick was so proud of them and
always spoke of them. Sincerely and with great sorrow Tony (kr4gs).
