Frank Phillips (W5QPH)

My mentor and "pusher" to get my General ticket. One of the best "fists" you ever heard on CW and was a member of QCWA. He started the first ham club in Bangkok, Thailand while in the service. A long time friend and fellow operator ! W 5 "quarter pound ham" !

I met Frank when I lived in Lawton in 1963. He was always kind and helpful to everyone and such a good friend. I remember Field Day 1964 in Lawton with Frank and his family, the most fun I have ever had on Field Day. I had the chance to talk with Frank about 1 month before he passed on, he only spoke a few words but those words ment so much to me. He will truly be missed but forever in my memories

My first time I met Frank was in Lawton, Ok at the local club meeting in 1996. I was a new Tech licensee and was eager to get up and running. Frank sold me a radio and even gave me an old 2 meter 13 element beam which I still have and use occasionally. I visited Frank's house regularly to chat with him. He was a great friend and would do anything for another person. He will be missed.
