Brent Zook (N9HZ)

December 30, 2010

I met Brent when he was at the University of Minnesota Hospital for his double lung transplant. I was an officer of the U of M radio club at that time and invited him to use the club's ham shack. Brent was so likable that we became friends immediately, a friendship which lasted until his passing. We got together whenever he was in Minneapolis and Brent and I shared a room at Dayton every year. One of my fondest memories will be that of teasing him about his love of huge heavy boat anchor radios. Every time I'd see a Central Electronics 100V in the flea market at Dayton I'd call him on 2m and tell him I had found it for him. Brent would invariably reply that he already had one that he hadn't finished repairing yet and that he didn't want another. Still, that didn't stop me from telling him about every other 100V I'd see. Every day of every Hamvention, I had to tell Brent about every 100V. Brent was my good friend and I will miss him a lot.
