I had the pleasure of visiting Hannes a few times in 1982 at his house on Moningerberg. At that time he was running the Drake C line in to a Hygain quad above the house.I remember that we worked a station at a German base in Antarctica on 15 Metres. I probably have the QSL stored away somewhere. Hannes gave me a very nice French made Ferisol VTVM as a souvenir of my visit. I still use it to this day!He was a real Radio Ham. He had a Rhode & Schwarz EK7 receiver, what a beauty. I also used a Kenwood TS900 HF transceiver in his shack, which I quite liked so I bought one when I got back to Wales. Quite by chance one of the locals had one for sale. Quite a rare rig here. Hannes was a great character with so much knowledge to share, especially about amplifiers.
