John Hill (KM1A)
August 12, 2011
John's life long avocation was amateur
radio, starting out as W1ZFF in 1954 in Hamden, Ct. In 1982 he received the
callsign KM1A and attained the DX Century Award. He was a member of the
Shoreline Radio Club, Hamden Radio Club and The American Radio Relay League
with more than 325 individual country contacts throughout the world. He was a hard worker that
put his children first in every bit of his life. He loved and encouraged
those around him.
John will be greatly missed by all of the regulars on 3818 where he held court on a dialy basis.

We are shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of our dear fellow amateur and friend,
John Hill. John's vibrancy, charm and sense of humor touched us all in so many different ways. Always to be remembered, KM1A of Killingworth, a wonderful person.

John was a gentleman with a wry sense of humor, and a strong, clean signal on the bands. Many more listened on 3818, for entertainment and news and views, than ever checked in, mostly to hear John's take on the issues of the day.
