Friends Remembered Home | Friends Detail
Raymond Galep (WA9SXJ)
July, 2011
I met Ray in the late 60's on ham radio when living in Michigan; a strong friendship quickly developed, interwoven with countless intense discussions on politics, ethics, philosophy (especially existentialism), remedies for social injustice, economics, the arts (literature, painting, music). On and on....
Many years later, with a good part of my life behind me--this fellow still stands out in my mind, and I ask myself how I could have been that lucky to have met such an individual and to have had that enduring friendship.
Ray and I were 'best buds' for a long time; his death is a deep and very painful loss.

Quite a sad shock to read about Radio Ray passing away. Sorry to hear that. I knew Ray from way back in the 70's.
Time is ticking for all us old Hams.

I knew Ray almost 40 years, I was the local
teenage ham and being sort of Elmered by
Chris K8RY. When I met Ray, Just a great guy
right from the start. My travels have
recently moved me to St. Paul, MN. and was
looking forward to catching up with him here.
Can't describable the sense of loss I felt
when I heard the news. Just a Solid, Caring
Guy, He will be deeply missed. Below is the
address for a picture of Ray about the time I
met him.
