Bud Whitney (K7RMT)

Sept. 1 2011

Bud of Wimberley TX left us the first of this month. Active daily on 20 ssb, Bud had a big signal with his 5 element Telrex. If you had Collins, you most likely knew Bud, or knew of him. He worked on S-Line and KWM2 equipment, and customized power supplies. What a great guy! We will miss him forever, as does 14.253. He was 92, and on the air until a brief illness. 73 Bud.

I was very sad to learn of Bud's passing. I worked him occasionally on "Buds" frequency, 14.253 over the years. However, most times due to poor band conditions I just listened in to the group. Bud was 100% a gentleman, a true American and a proud USAF veteran. To me he was the kind of American that served his country, took care of his family, never complained and would welcome newcomers to the group. 73 Bud, we'll miss you !
