Don Sereni (KB6KTV)

October 17, 2011

It is with deep sadness that I record the passing of Don Sereni, KB6KTV. I have known Don a very long time. I worked him as a teenager on phone and have kept in contact with him until very recently. Don was a complete class act and dedicated to radio, fishing and most importantly his family. I had the genuine pleasure of hosting Don and Cami at my home in Missoula, Montana. I have to admit, both of them were a match made in heaven. Couldn't have happened in Montana. You could tell they were deeply committed to each other. Other folks I know could have benefited from observing their deep commitment to each other. Most dxers know Don from his tireless hours on 14.236.0 at 2330Z, the INDEXA net. Good conditions or poor he was helping out fellow hams with qsl information or the latest in dx rumors. I am personally thankful for all his help when the internet wasn't what it is today. The first trip for Don to my area of Montana he and I went flyfishing. It was his first experience. What amazed me was his complete focus on technique and catching a fish. The river we were on was famous for fish that were finicky. You could toss every bug at them and they just give you the fin. Although he didn't land anything he did have a bite and more importantly we had a good time. I treasure that time with Don and think about it often. I wish Cami and her family my very best and am very thankful for being part of their life even it was from a distance. Greg, N7GR
