John Kakstys (W2FNT)
Aside from his on air activities he was
well known for his basement and garage
jammed with radio goodies, a regular
hamfest without the hamfest prices. Beyond
saying he was a good ham and a good man,
friend to all.

I used to see John at all the major hamfests in the Northease but haven't seen him for a while. He used to make lamps out of old transmitting tubes. I am sorry to learn of his passing. R.I.P John.

I just found out he was gone.
In 1968 I bought a DX-20 and VF-1 from him for $20 each. Both in great shape and performed well. Met him many, many years later at a hamfest - great guy.

Really sorry to hear that John has passed. I first met him at a ham "auction", in 1966 or 1967. In the central NJ area, John was "the man" for used radio stuff. It seemed like what fell of the truck on the way to Canal Street. John picked it up and sold it to me and other teenage hams in the area. He was a long time resident of Linden, and was a fixture at hamfests near and far. Thank you for the great memories.
