Bill White (K6TXO)

November 20, 2010

Bill White was the pastor for theFirst Baptist Church in Stanton, California. The church was later known as the Anaheim Baptist Temple. Pastor White helped me get my Novice licensee in 1969. Many years gone by, I lost contact with Pastor White and many friends. My own fault there but I never forgot Pastor White for all of his guidance and help. Anyway, years later I moved out of California and into "7" region, I decided to honor my friend and pastor with a change in my call sign. Pastor Bill White held an Advanced ham license as K6TXO. He also had a Private pilot license as well as Commercial and Airframe & Powerplant rating. Pastor White taught me many things including most of my radio, electronics and a bit of aircraft service and flying. When my wife and I permanently moved to Idaho in 2009, I changed my own "6" call sign to K7TXO when I moved to Idaho in region 7. I learned that K6TXO became an SK on 20 November, 2010. Even though I had not returned to Southern California over the years to visit with Pastor White, I truly do miss my friend, teacher, mentor and pastor.
