Joe Feehan (KP2BL)
February 21, 2004
I left a job in early February where Joe had been working as a security guard. We enjoyed talking about radio and electronics. When I last heard from Joe, he said he was ill. I tried to Email him and never heard back. He was a really nice guy, very quiet and kept to himself. At first I thought that maybe he had moved back to the BVI to recuperate with old friends and family. When his arrl.net email bounced one day, I had a sinking feeling, and looked through the obituaries, and sadly, I found him listed there. I have provided a link to the page here:
Read about how Joe helped his fellow islanders after Hurricane Hugo here:
Joe would sit with a portable general coverage receiver next to him while he kept his vigil keeping us all safe. The last time that I saw Joe, he gave me a code key so that I could start learning Morse. How better to remember someone with such a great love of amateur radio! Rest in peace, my friend.

It took me a few more years, but I wish you could be here to know that I finally got my ham license. I think that it would really put a grin on your face. I'm studying FEMA materials so that I can help out like you always did when hurricanes and disaster struck your community. Until we meet again, my friend.
