Harry Burhans (W3FM)

October, 2011

The following was submitted to me (VE3ROO) via mail by Flavius Jankauskas (K3JA). I am posting this story at his request. We were just pre-WWI teenage friends in a suburban Philadelphia radio club (W3HLF). Robert Morris (W31FR, later W3EJK), Harry (W3HL1S, later W3FM) and myself (W3JAK, later K3JA). Robert joined the army in 1940 and was a Pearl Harbor survivor on board USS Saint Louis... Harry went in to USAF and spent the war years in Europa with the 8th AF. Later years Bob worked for Voice of America in Greece (SC0 call) and (sic), Liberia and Africa. Harry went SK Oct 2011, Bob went SK Feb 2012. Man years of fond memories.
