David Hill (W5XK)

May 14, 2013

Last week we said goodbye to our friend David Hill W5XK (former WA5JYZ) of Mt. Pleasant, TX. David passed after a long battle with cancer, much like his friend KM5SB who has already been remembered on this site (within hours of one another). David was loving referred to as "Buda" or "squatty body" for very obvious reasons. Physically he may have short in stature, but he was tall in character. David was the guy that tended to spur everyone's interest in new and exciting things. It didn't matter if it was ATV, 6m FM, 10m AM, 2m sideband, HF or firearms. David called it like he saw it, and was brutally honest at times. There was never any gray area with David. David is survived by his wife Paula and their sons. He will be greatly missed by many of us in and near "Downtown Northeast Texas". 73 Buda and we'll see you and Phred on the other side. Nathan Bailey N5REL Sulphur Springs, TX
