Bob Rozzano (K6JHV)

Jan 23, 2007

Bob was a wonderful man. June 28, 1937 —Jan. 23, 2007 Sonora resident Robert Rozzano died Jan. 23 at a Sonora hospital. He was 69. He was born in San Francisco and had lived in Sonora for 10 years. He worked as an electronic technician for 15 years. He help many people to get there licenses... including me... way back in the '60s. That was when we had to Earn the license, and that process of learning and earning, was part of what made the hobby so much fun and also what gave the license Value! Bob helped people in so many other countless ways. He was a Great man. God bless you, Bob

Bob was an Elmer to me too. I met him when I was 15 years old. He lived in Kensington on a hilltop bordering Tilden Park, and had built a UHF repeater with old KAAR tube equipment. This was around 1971 when repeaters were relatively new to amateurs and most were on 2 meters. He had that modified repeater sounding hi-fi with his custom audio circuit! Bob was also an early adopter of digital electronics and was a real doer when it came to putting his ideas into a finished project. Bob was always very patient and enjoyed explaining technical things in a way that could be understood by a Novice! I had a lot of "Aha!" moments while Bob showed his latest projects. Thanks to Bob's encouragement and making radio/electronics interesting to a youngster, amateur radio has been a lifelong hobby for me as well as provided me with a foundation for an interesting career. We need more mentors like Bob in this hobby. Bob recognized that the future is with our youth. 73 to you “K 6 John Henry Victor” de W6HD (fka WN6MXT)
