Joe Pursley (KF5MC)

Sep. 03, 2015

My friend, my Elmer, passed away after a five week long illness. He was a ham for nearly 70 years. Built allot of his gear, antennas, gadgets. 28 years in the Air Force, he medically retired as a Master Sargent. He was a true ham in every sense. Over the last few years he didn't get on the air much, most of his friends had passed away. He will be missed and remembered by those who knew him, and called him a friend.

Joe was a great friend and Patriot. He was a regular on 14.208. I have decades of memories and QSO's with him. He will be greatly missed. The group will not be the same without him. "To fly West is a flight we must all take for a final check" Author unknown. Eternal 73 DE WD7R

Going to miss Joe. I haven't talked or seen him in several years. Years ago on a trip to Austin, I stopped by Joe's QTH and listened for hours about some of his military service and ham radio experiences. Joe was a true patriot. Make no bones about it, Joe was a straight shooter and would say what was on his mind!
