Dave Floyd (W9MPD/7)
Nov 21 2015
Dave was a solid fixture in amateur radio and especially in the repair business. First in Illinois near St. Louis MO, then in Boulder City- owner of Radio World.
No kinder or friendlier soul ever walked the earth.

Met Dave when I moved to the Las Vegas area in 1999, and bought afew things from him, but enjoyed just browsing his shop, as it was such a clutter of equipment, etc, which reminded me of my dads Radio/TV repair shop.. I have yet to understand how he knew where things were. His XYL always had a bunch of cookies for everyone to munch on. Afew times he wanted me to buy him out so he could retire...yeah right... Good guy and always interesting to talk to. RIP Dave..John W6ZKH

So sorry to hear this news of Dave Floyd. Dave and I
met up as brand new teenage hams on 6 meter AM -
both on our Harvey Wells. He in Granite City, Il. I was
50 miles South in Marissa. Many great memories of
our learning more and more about this great hobby
together. He was very active in the St Louis area clubs
and his Radio shop become the gathering place for so
many of us. He was very kind and helpful to so many.
He was greatly missed when he picked up and moved
to Boulder City. Sarah and I visited him a few times
there and his shop always was filled will interesting and
strange radio parts and pieces just as it was in Granite
City. I always would announce his K9BQV call each
time we would hook up on the air, although he became
W9MPD years back. It brought back memories of our
beginning days of ham radio together. I still have his
K9BQV QSL card on my wall. A great part of ham
radio, Dave Floyd, his humor, his mind and his soul will

I remember Dave from Collinsville, IL when I would trek over to see what "goodies" Dave had, and seeing him at the Zero Beaters Hamfest in Missouri. He, like Ham Radio Center, was a fixture in the duo-states (IL/Mo) and hated to see Ham Radio Center quit the business with Dave Fine and Bill Duborg and then later, when Dave Floyd moved out West. Will miss you Dave and sorry to hear of your passing. RIP Dave, and will QSY to your frequency someday myself!

Shocked and saddened to hear about Dave. Over the last many years while visiting LV, I would always drive over to his store and chat and sometimes buy something. Three times he would ask me if I would be interested in buying out his store. So, I knew he wanted to "bail out" of the radio biz. I am especially concerned how his wife is taking all this? Anyone, PLEASE comment here how his wife is doing and if she is being supported by friends family. I was in Vegas last month and phoned to see if he was open. No answer to my call. I will miss you Dave and your outlook on Ham Radio and politics. Again, I hope his wife is OK.
