Cal Macy (KD6JPH)
September 20, 1999
Cal was at home on the air. He welcomed new hams, gently teaching them on-the-air protocol, encouraging them to continue with their ham status and activities.
Cal used amateur radio as a lifeline to his family, to his yacht club, and to all those on the air, at any time. He listened. For those on the road late at night, he "talked" you home. When in need, he would make the call for you. He listened for his family, and they checked in regularly with him on their way home, way out, way over. His love for his family was unmistakable.
I'll miss him. We'll miss him. Bon Voyage Cal, 73s and 88s KD6JPH...

When I first joined "HAMROCK" (our Yacht Club's amateur radio group), Cal made sure I got a roster and introduced me to the other members of the group at the meetings. He was always concerned about welcoming new members and encouraging them to take an active role in the group. He was an example to us.
