Ralph Wendell Gard (WB5OQX)

June 15, 2016

Wendell Gard grew up in Peabody, KS, graduating from high school there. He then served in the Marine Corps. Following his tour in the USMC, he attended college and worked for Oklahoma Gas & Electric for over thirty years. In Oct 1996, Wendell married Sheryl Meister in Ringwood, OK. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, and also enjoyed photography and music, especially guitar and banjo. I had the pleasure of meeting Wendell in the mid-1970s when we were both members of the Enid [OK] Amateur Radio Club (W5HTK). I've worked many a Field Day with Wendell and also worked with him at Oklahoma Gas & Electric while I attended college. A finer man you will never meet -- he will be missed. 73 Wendell!
