Gary Storm (Stormy) (N7WX)

Oct 2016

Stormy passed away a few months ago after a hard battle with liver failure. The voice of Samish Island with a wonderful signal to be heard on SSB many times a week. Below is his Bio. Hi all you Hamsters. .Thanks for looking at my station.... Started in this wonderful hobby back in the early 60's... The hobby became a job opportunity on a research ship out of Seattle at the age of 17. Then went into the Air Force during the little war in Viet Nam, was in crash rescue and then after I got out went into the Seattle fire department... Was a EMT II... After that I went back out to sea as a ship's radio electronics officer for 15 years......Have a 1st class radiotelegraph license with Radar endorsement...Been retired for over 14 years now and still enjoy the hobby....Also many sailboats over a 35 year period, sailing all over the Northwest....--My other hobby was Assistant Fire Chief of the Samish Island fire department...(:+)

Totally brought tears to my eyes. Especially learning his wife also died 9 days later. Stormy was a light for ham radio. I will miss him.

I was very sad to hear about Stormy's passing. He and I had a common bond in the fire service and we exchanged ideas and experiences many times over the years. Rest in peace my old and dear friend. 73, Ralph w9car

Very sad news. Stormy and I had 11 HF QSOs over a 12-year period with the last one in December 2015. Always friendly, great conversationalist and we both liked Icom gear. His pleasant voice and demeanor will be missed by many. -- Dave, N4KZ
