Tom Moyers (N3XT)

September, 1999

Tom was not only my friend, he was also my Brother-in-Law. He was largely responsible for my becoming a Ham. Even though I had had an interest in amateur radio for a lot of years he gave the stimulus for me to act. He was referred to as the "ham's ham" which was a very correct description of him. His greatest love was CW, and he worked it with conviction. He was an avid mobile CW operator. There isn't much that I do as a Ham that doesn't remind me of Tom. His passing was certainly a loss to the world of Amateur Radio.

Something that came to mind after I submitted the piece about Tom-N3XT, is from an article that he wrote for the Woodbridge Wireless Radio Club Newsletter. It was one of his most quotable quotes. He wrote that "CW was great for Hams that didn't have a lot to say but had a lot of time to say it."
