Ray Feeley (K1CSB)

August 2, 1999

Ray was my brother-in-law. A kind, wonderful guy, who was always ready to help me or any other ham put up an antenna, set up a station, or just ragchew to keep me company on a late-night ride home. He died a hero. A drunk driver crashed into an electric pole in the wee hours of the morning and began screaming for help. Ray attempted to go to his aid, and in the darkness, stepped on a downed wire just as the electricity came back on. He died instantly. The drunk driver was completely unhurt. His screams were only hysteria. Ray knew the danger that was there, but he did not hesitate, because that was the sort of guy he was...caring and selfless. He left his loving wife, his innumerable ham friends, and this sister-in-law who misses, every day, the qsos we had.
