Friends Remembered Home | Friends Detail
Elmer Brooks (KA8YVA)
June 15, 1991
Elmer was one of my dearest friends. A prolific inventor, he held the original patent for the spark advance used in automobiles and was instrumental in developing the welders used to create the first space vehicles. He was a long time member of the Big Rapids Area Amateur Radio Club (MI). He had great interest in the hobby and held a Novice License. I can still recall the time we went to a hamfest together to purchase a radio for him. He was like a kid in a candy store. Although he never made a contact on his own he showed great delight in watching me communicate several times with his one and only radio. I can still see the gleam in his eyes and is a friend I will never forget.
Rest in Peace my friend.
