We are standing next to a 33' DK9SQ Kanga pole used to support some of
our half-wave wire monoband vertical antennas. Bigger antennas are hung from coconut trees next to the beach-yes the 40 and 80 half waves are really strung from trees by the beach.

RECENT ACTIVITY: Will be working the CQWW SSB contest as KH6MB from the club QTH active 160-10 meters.
Great contact with K4M, they sound local from here.
Recent activities include the NAQPSSB 09- we operated multi op two transmitter, but ended up working only one xmitter on 20,40 and 80. Our log for the event is posted on LOTW for those of you working on the Triple Play award. Thanks for all the swell contacts!
DX FUN: Worked YL DXpedition VP8YLG to Falkland Islands on 20 and the ZD8UW DXpedition on 40-both with our KH6MB single element 1/2 wave wire verticals stuck in the sand.
The Sandwich Islands Shortwave Club was founded in 2008 for the general
purposes of pursuing common interests including long distance shortwave
communications, antenna experimentation, contesting, public service, education
and portable operations.
CLUB STATION QTH: Primary club operations are from Kailua, Oahu,
Hawaii. Kailua beach is a north facing beach on the eastern half of the island
of Oahu about 20 miles NE of Honolulu airport.
RIG/ANTENNAS: Usually it is an Elecraft K3 transceiver, Tokyo Hy Power HL 12.5 running about 1500 watts down 150 feet of coax to half wave mono band verticals for 80-10 end fed with a home brew tuner designed by KH6MB. There is usually a balanced line fed dipole about 50' up in a palm tree for 60, 80 and 160.
The call sign KH6TE represents an appreciation for American inventor Thomas Edison who once said: "Results! Why, man, I have gotten a lot of results. I know several thousand things that won't work."
