RM Italy KL 145  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
i use one calling the 2 meter nets and just to qso often. I do have another amp and can't tell the difference between them other than this model doesn't have a preamp. Other wise it's a great amp. kk4ypk.com

kl145 not bad for th emoney  Time owned: more than 12 months
HI I have been using my KL 145 or about 12 months never had a problem it has to be the best value for my needs i run 9 elements on 2m @30ft and regularly make qso's over 3-400 klm. I also use this in contests. and for rag chewing cbf with repeaters. i run it on a separate power supply to my radio .
Dont stress about the Eham cry babys these amps arent top shelf. and dont pretend to be. They do the job nicely and are fairly clean. i run mine with my ic 7100 i only wish it had a pre amp in the amp. but for the money whos complaining
cheers

Good value  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I've owned one for about 3 months and although not able to speak for the longevity, my first impressions have been quite favorable. You can drive it with 1-25 FM or upto 50 watts SSB. The output is as advertised at 110 watts via my meter (I see that on FM as well as SSB). They list 220 as PEP max. I have it pulling around 12-13 amps top end (advertised is 14amps). Runs warm but even with JT65 terrestrial or 2M PSK (rare) I've never had it get to hot. Sure helps the rig run cooler and takes some pressure off the transciever. There is no preamp of course. Overall seems well made and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. But like all hams, now I kind of wish I would have gone for the 300 watt amp ... bigger can often times be better in VHF. Maybe next christmas :) 73 N4PPG

Great and cheap too  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
Ok, cheap, simple, and works what can I say. I've had mine for 6 months it sits between 4 2 meter rigs and 4 antennas. I've wired my VHF array so I can switch it in and out. My IC-251 loves it for SSB workd and it drives my f6 and motorola sabers out 45 miles.

Buy it treat it right and it will never let ya down...

Reasonable cost 2 meter amplifier  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
Well, somebody had to buy one of these and see how they work ... guess it was me.

Anyway, the amplifier works as advertised and looking at the schematic the unit seems very similar to a KLM PA 10-80bl that i had quite a few years ago. The workmanship on my unit is excellent. I originally drove the amplifier with 10 watts from a Kenwood TR-9000 and now i am driving it with an ICOM IC-271A at 25 watts. I had purchased an MFJ 817C VHF watt meter to see what the output was, but the brand new watt meter was DOA from the dealer (see my review on that item). Not having access to any VHF test equipment i worked both FM and SSB stations, asking for a critical review of my signal each time. All reports came back excellent.

This amplifier is RF actuated only, however it was very simple to modify to accept a hard keyed PTT input.

When i find the UHF ICOM rig i am looking for, i won't hesitate to buy the RM Italy UHF amplifier.

Cheers.
