Good first impression

Time owned: 0 to 3 months

Tubes arrived packed well and in good condition.
These are to replace some Gassy Eimacs in a B and W pt2500. After a good warm up period it was time to apply RF drive at Low voltage. All came up with no strain no pain, slowly bumped up Drive and Raised Plate Voltage to about 2800 under full load. Doing about 1600 watts indicated into the Dummy Load with about 180 MA of Grid drive. The tubes looked Like they could do that all day long.

These Chinese 3-500ZG bottles are fantastic. 800 to 1000 watts+ output depending on the band in my AL-80B amp.
Buy with confidence!

Great Tube
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months
|

Tube came with Anode current test specs printed on the box AND the tube. This RF Parts tube replaced an aging Eimac that was going soft after 25 years in my LK-450. The new tube certainly rocks. 50W in will give me 500W out on key-down without even getting warm. I'd suspect a full kilowatt out with 100W input, but I'm not going to try that test until I get a few hours transmit time on the new tube. Run conservatively, this 3-500ZG should last forever. RF Parts has a winner.

Great

I purchased a new 3-500ZG from RF Parts three years ago for use in my Ameritron AL-80A.
I am throughly satisfied. With abuse from the operator and use everyday, the tube continues to deliver full power with no signs of failure.
I Recommend the RF Parts 3-500ZG.

Fine tube, great supplier

I purchased three of these tubes for my QRO HF-2000 and Ameritron AL-80A because one of the tubes in the nine year old QRO may have been gassy and the twenty year old Eimac in the AL-80A needed a backup. RF Parts Sales was courteous and delivery was prompt. After about a week one of the tubes in the QRO failed. The tube was returned to RF Parts where they determined it had a grid to plate short. A replacement was sent via UPS 2nd day air. Having used 3-500’s from Eimac, Amperex, and the Chinese variety, I see no significant difference in performance. The grid to plate short in one of the tubes is not a great concern since I’ve had a similar experience with an Amperex tube that came with an AL-80B purchased new in 2003. Tubes are like light bulbs. Every now and then one is bad right out of the box. At $180 a piece including shipping, good tube warranty and excellent customer service, I believe these tubes are a good replacement for any 3-500 amplifier.

I bought an 80-A with some problems and a shorted out tube, so I bought a replacement 3-500ZG from Rf Parts and have been running strong ever since.

Quality Product

I've used a matched pair of the RFP for about 2 years; they are mostly on SSB about 2 hours a day, seven days a week. An easy 1KW 80 - 10 meters with 50 - 80 watts of drive (depends on the band). Great customer service and engineering consultation. Simply an excellent designed, manufactured and quality controlled prodcut; sounds easy but sometimes hard to achieve.

Excellent Tube
|
Time owned: 3 to 6 months

As usual, RF Parts did their homework before offering these tubes for sale. I put a new one in my Ameriton AL-80B amplifier, and let it "burn-in" for about 15-20 hours or so over the course of about three days. With my old weak tube, I had to throw 100 watts into the amp to maybe see 800-850 out. With the new RF Parts tube, I'm seeing about 800 watts with about a 55-60 watts drive. If I throw 100 watts into it, I see 1000+ watts output. I generally keep my amp 'throttled back' to about 600-700 watts, and this RF Parts 3-500ZG tube doesn't even break a sweat. GREAT job RF Parts !

Strong Tube
|
Time owned: more than 12 months

This tube is a very good tube. The tube is strong and puts out quite a bit of power. I use two of them in my amplifier and they certainly put out. I have had a moment of memory lapse and accidentally tuned the the "tune Button" instead of the Load and normally that would have been a wrap on another tube but the 3-500Z work real well.

Nice Quality Tube

Why can't all the Chinese tubes be as good as these? This is a quality product, well made and a fine performer. RFP sells them for the right price. A pair has been running the full legal limit very nicely in my Henry 2K-4 for over a year. As my other 20-35 year old Eimacs fail I will be replacing them with these. I'll write another review in 2028!
