Addendum to my earlier review of the KPC-4!  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
I said earlier that the KPC-4 was a bit picky on received packets, but that was because I was trying to run the TNC via the receive audio that was being supplied via my two Kenwood TM-261A radio's RJ-45 microphone jack. This audio is really low level unsquelched audio. In fact, the supplied audio from the RJ-45 microphone jack is too low for the KPC-4 to reliably decode the packets, whether the "CD" (Carrier Detect) command was set to "INTernal" or "SOFTware." After discussing the issue with an fellow Packet operator, Richard / KD4GNX were talking about he had his old KAM hooked up to his radios, and then I decided to try the old 1/8' audio plug to supply audio feed from the radio, with the volume up enough so that even the low audio, and or weak signal levels could be decoded MUCH BETTER!
