Description: The Apache-Labs ANAN-10 is a 10+ watt HF + 6M Software Defined Radio multimode Transceiver. The ANAN-10 is comprised of the OpenHpsdr designed Hermes 500mw transceiver board, Apache-Labs 10+ watt Power Amplifer / LPF Filter board and housing. The Hermes board is the original OpenHPSDR / TAPR Mercury, Pennylane, Metis and Excalibur (less TCXO) boards rolled into one printed circuit board. See for more details.

The Hermes receiver is Direct Down Conversion using a 16 bit Analog to Digital Convertor running at 122mhz. This provides the ability for continuous, uninterrupted, receive coverage from 10KHz to 55MHz. It can support up to 7 receivers (sharing the same antenna) in firmware. The Hermes V 2.0 firmware currently provides a maximum of 4 simultaneous receivers. Each receiver can display 48, 96 or 192khz of spectrum at one time.

The ANAN-10 PA/Filter board provides 3 seperate antenna ports, 10+ watt power amplifier, SWR bridge, Low Pass Filtering and 13.8VDC connector. The Hermes board includes low level RF inputs/outputs and a 26 pin I/O connector, as well as 2W audio stereo speaker ouput, headphone, mic and key jacks.

The Hermes/ANAN-10 uses a standard RJ-45 LAN ethernet connection, no soundcard, firewire, or usb required. Firmware updates via Ethernet.

The Hermes/ANAN-10 transceiver currently uses Open Source HPSDR PowerSDR Version 2.2.5, and KK-Unified-32 (KISS) available at . Other HPSDR open source software is under development as well. See for details.

Great receiver(s).  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
The ANAN-10 receivers are awesome IMO. Played with them for a week before I even got around to making a QSO.

The ANAN-10 uses the OpenHPSDR designed Hermes board and it shows. The OpenHPSDR hardware and software developers actively support the Hermes firmware and software, with frequent updates. Received a firmware update yesterday, and the open source OpenHPSDR PowerSDR software updates every few days it seems. Always excited to see what new features have been implemented, or what bugs got fixed.

This is a work in progress as the OpenHPSDR team works on various aspects. Fun to participate in the trouble shooting and reading the comments of the developers on the mailing lists.

OpenHPSDR PowerSDR has some neat features not seen in "other" PowerSDR versions. It has a "collapsable" display that is awesome to see. It provides the main operating features and pandadapters in a smaller window than the regular PowerSDR window.

The PA can output 20+ watts on some bands, but to play it safe I set the power gain per band in PowerSDR to provide 15 watts.

The ethernet interface is very simple to use. Just connect the radio to your switch or router and you are in business. No special cables to buy or drivers to download and install. A single receiver version of PowerSDR uses about 12mbs/3mbs of network bandwidth, while the dual receiver version uses about 24mbs/3.3mbs.

I am using a Gateway computer with an I3 processor and 6gb of ram. Tried to run it on my 1.7ghz centrino based laptop and it struggled and is not really up to the task. Need a 2 Ghz dual core processor or better IMO.

Still learning how to use all of the hardware and software features, but that is part of the fun. Definitely a keeper for me.
