Use a FRONT-END!  Time owned: more than 12 months
As a building block this product exceeded my expectations, especially when placed into an RF-tight project box. But I'm writing this review to share a caveat: you will need to supply your own front-end (pulled from a decommissioned boat anchor VHF radio) or use an LNP VHF Receiver Preselector. If you do not, your receiver may suddenly go deaf when in proximity to RF (like from your other ham activities, or at a communications site). Then you've blown the BF998 DGMOSFET. Fortunately, these are available from Digikey. Don't use this without something in front of it or you will also need to stock up on MOSFETs. Don't let this discourage you or drive you away from the product, just take my lesson learned and use precautions for your own implementation.
