Buy it! It's Priceless!  Time owned: more than 12 months
Since purchasing my first copy in 1989, I have returned time and time again to this book. A simple straight talk Antenna book. This is a book every Ham should have who is using or is wanting to know about (any)Wire Antenna(s). Certainly the ARRL Antenna is also a wise purchase and a must have for your library--However, there is so much information and design applications in Orr's Antenna book(s). I have now owned 3 editions of this book--plus 5 other books written by Orr and Cowan; plus, other Antenna and RF Interference/Quad/Beam/Vertical Antenna books that Orr was the Editor or authored. And, don't forget Orr's: Radio Handbook. With Bill Orr now deceased, the Radio Handbook may be overpriced however, I found the latest(last) Edition(23rd) on Amazon for about 27.00 dollars. Simply put: If you enjoy building and designing Antennas(wire or otherwise)... This Book plus Bill Orr's Radio Handbook must be in your library!

One of the best books I've read to clarify lots of concepts.  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Simple, Low-Cost Wire Antennas for Radio Amateurs by William Orr and Stuart Cowan is one of the best books (even though it is pretty dated now - I believe the printing I have is from 1972) to give a new and learning ham great understanding of lots of antenna concept theory. There are easy to follow explanations of how to make and use several really good antennas that are very inexpensive (at least relatively now that copper wire costs a good bit).
