Description: The LNAA146FIL is designed using a very low loss 2 pole input bandpass filter along with a 2 pole output bandpass filter. The use of a input bandpass filter helps to greatly reduce or eliminate receiver de-sensitization, overload and intermodulation from out of band signals. While any filter preceding the amplifier will add to the overall noise figure, by using a very low noise MMIC and a filter designed and implemented using low loss techniques, the overall noise figure can still be maintained to a maximum of 2 dB. The MMIC amplifier chosen, besides having a low noise figure, has an output P1db compression point of +16 dBm, allowing it to handle strong in band signals.

Eliminated intermod in urban environment  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Living in a strong signal urban environment (including two pager transmitters a quarter mile away), receiving the Mode U/V (B) satellites with a two meter downlink (VO-52, AO-7, and others launching soon) was a challenge with the Icom IC-R10 receiver that I use as part of my portable satellite station. This preamp has robust filtering and only amplifies signals in the two meter band while rejecting out of band signals. I do still have to use a PAR electronics notch filter between the preamp and the receiver due to the 1,000 watt pager transmitters nearby, but I no longer experience any intermodulation or other distortion of the received signals. I am able to receive both AO-7 and VO-52 nearly down to the horizon after adding this filtered preamp. Highly recommended for those who are trying to receive weak signals in an urban environment using a receiver with a broad front end. It is designed for the FUNCube dongle, but works great for any receiver with a broad front end.
