Great performer, needs better firmware  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
I bought this receiver from a silent key sale for a very low price after my 14 year old AR5000+3 failed. It's a superbly-designed receiver but it suffers from the 'double tone CW' effect above 25 MHz. It also only gives access to one CW filter intead of two, and I think there is a problem with the 30KHz filter too. All this will be sorted when Waters & Stanton (who took over from AOR UK) finally(?) return it after installing new firmware for me. They've had it for 4 weeks now and no news yet!
Apart from these teething problems it's excellent, the digital filtering is incredible and the audio recording is very useful. Sensitivity is maintained all the way to 3 GHz and memory management and alpha tagging are easy.

good, but far away from perfect  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
Bought mine new from boger Germany this year.
After one day testing I had to send it back because of some failures...
CW-mode above 25 MHz: There was a second tone overlayed and the PLL seems to be not stable.
After some weeks I got it back with new firmware that is working now.
I think this problem is known as a "CW double tone above 25 MHz".
This problem was not known before I complained...
Has nobody switched to CW-mode above 25MHz before ?
Sensitivity on LW is very low compared to the AOR AR500.
The included switching power-supply kills your reception on LW ! Very, very noisy...
Don't know why they deliver such a "QRM-maker" with such an expensive receiver. Really a "no-go".

Also I don't like the "digital" squelch- and volume-control, but that is my personal opinon.
My summary...it is a very good receiver, but far away from "perfect" and I will NOT sale my "old" AR5000 +3.
