Warning  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I just ordered four matched Yaylor 572 B for the Ameritron AL 572. I agree with some posters, these tubes ain't what they used to be.

I purchased the Ameritron less than six months ago. It came supplied with four Sevetlana bottles.
At first fire up a TUBE GAS ARC causing at least four solid state bias componets and the cathode fusable resistor to blow.

Finally go a replacement, but had no guarantee the replacement was a match for the other three.
Never could get the rated 1300 watts even with a full load voltage of 2600 volts at full carrier.
In fact voltage on side band dropped no lower than 2800 volts. Still unable to meet specification.

Finally one tube must have failed, since I can barely make 850 watts on 75 meters.
This is with probably only a few hundred hours on the tubes.

I am aware of the poor solder bonding with Taylors and if you attempt to remove the plate cap, the whole anode comes away in your hands.

Things are NOT as the used to be.

Back To Full Power  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Just installed a matched set of these tubes from RF parts in my Dentron Clipperton L. Had to wait six months for delivery but I'm now back to 1000 watts plus on 120 volts. I replaced the original Dentron branded tubes, so I have no complaints whatsoever. I have no idea how long these tubes will last, but for now, I'm a happy camper.

( Price was good too.)

Dissapointed  Time owned: more than 12 months
"They just don't make 'em like they used to" - how true. Can't single out RF Parts, the 572Bs coming out of China are all poor quality, no matter what name is on them. They just shouldn't charge what they do considering the short life expectancy. The plate cap welds let go on 2 out of 3 tubes in a little AL-811 amp that's seen two years of occasional light CW duty. I wondered where my power went! Upon inspection, the plate cap wire-welds were completely burnt. I am guessing the IR loss of the poorly made connections cause them to heat and fail. Yet one of the tubes is still perfect, like the day I got them; a testament to the variance due to poor or non-existent manufacturing QC. I am back to using 3 old used RCA 811As from flea markets which work just fine.

Total waste of money  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
The 572B "Taylor" tubes sold by RF Parts are generic chinese tubes, often found on ebay for around $50. The only thing that makes those tubes "Taylor" brand is the stamped red logo on the glass envelope. I tried to clean the tube from fingerprints with alcohol and it wiped the tube clean - literaly. The "Taylor" logo and some smudged printing, which I wasnt able to read in first place came right off with the alcohol. The clean tube is virtually indistinguishable from the low cost chinese tubes. They are exact down to every small detail. RF prats claims that the tubes are an "exact mechanical and electrical copy" of the Centron tubes - they are not! There are many obvious mechanical differences when compared with Centron - starting from the shape of the glass envelope itself and finishing with the internal part. Even the Anode cap is smaller and I had to adjust the clamps on my amp for good electrical contact. The clamps (which fit perfectly on the Centron) were siliding off the "Taylor" tubes.
In other words - the extra 20-30-40 dollars are absolute waste of the money There is no added value in the "Taylor" tubes - especially not after wiping them with alcohol. They are priced higher and the RF Parts web site leaves the impression that you are going to get a higher quality tube which in fact is not the case - even the electrical performance is the same.

FIne Replacements!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months

After three years, one of the 811As in my Al-811 amp was feeling both abuse I had given it and its own age. I decided to replace them all with a matched threesome of Taylor 572Bs.

These tubes are fine replacements. Need to break them in with ~10 hours of warm-up so the Ti getter can do its job of cleaning up manufacturing contaminants and increasing vacuum. After that, let 'em rip!

600-650 linear Watts PEP is easy on 80m. Limitation on more power is the AL-811's supply and whether you really, really want your non-linear signal splattering the bands. Not.

Give yourself a relatively inexpensive upgrade. Go Taylor 572Bs.

Great tubes that GLOW!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I just replaced a set of cheapie tubes 572's that were in my used AL-572 amplifier with a matched set of TAYLOR tubes from AMERITRON recently.
Performance is MUCH better with full advertised output easily attained.
The really great thing now is the power out with low drive.....on about 25W input, I'm getting 500W out! The amp just loafs along at that level and the exciter is very happy!

Anyway, I have been pleased with the quality of the TAYLOR tubes.

Chuck

Great !  Time owned: more than 12 months
I bought a matched set of 572B's for my AL-811. I I've occasionally run them beyond the recommended specs. They keep on chuggin'! Also use a set of 4 of their 811A's in my AL-811H. Same results!

Work Great  Time owned: more than 12 months
3 in an old AL-811 amp... 600+ out..I use this amp on digi modes, so it really puts the tubes(and amp) to the test. As far as getting them off EBay,,,well..good luck if you have a problem.
I have used RF Parts for over 10 years..and they have gone "way out there" for me. I would rather pay a little more and KNOW the co. will still be there in a year.

general overview  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
I know that there are some hams that say replacing the 811A's with 572B's is a waste of time and money. I very stronly disagree with this thought. The RCA specifications for the 811A states that the maximum plate voltage is 1500v. and the absolute maximum power output is 200w. per tube. This was when these tubes were made in the USA. The 572B's might be bit more expensive BUT I now have headroom enough that when I have my forgetfull moments there won't be holes in the plates. Now you will not get any more power output (limited by the plate voltage and current available from the power supply) but they are more forgiving of "senior moments". One last thing. I spoke with Ameritron and THEY recommend the upgrade and that it will not effect the warrente.

Great  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
I bought a matched quad set from RF Parts several months back as a direct replacement for my 811h amp's 811 tubes. No problems at all.
