Wonderful!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I recently added the DWM-2 to my collection of equipment which includes the gold standard LP-100A. The DWM-2 is another gold standard product. It is more expensive than the LP but seems its equal in accuracy and reliability, and offers a much better display of information. While the LP display is mode-switchable, the DWM shows peak, average and reflected power, and SWR simultaneously, both in numerical format as well as emulated meters. The display is in bright, carefully selected colors which makes it much easier to read than the LP, which has a greenish, lower-def, DOS-esque look to it. The SWR alarm has a not-too-loud fire-house klaxon sound which just gets your attention without being annoying. It sounds at 3:1 which is about right.I installed 1" rubber feet on the front which brought the viewing angle up perfectly for an instrument sitting on my desktop just below the monitors.

If there was one thing I would have preferred, it would be a USB connection for a computer. The LP has one and, Hams being Hams, someone will write a potentially useful program. In the case of the LP, the available software has not proven very useful to me, but others may feel differently. Perhaps that will be coming.

For me, the wonderful high quality, higher-def display and the simultaneous provision of information was worth the extra money vs. the LP. I have no complaints about the LP and would also rate it a "5" but I plan to keep the DWM and mothball the LP.

Video Review  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Applied Engineering Science, Inc has a couple of nice video's on their website for their DWM-2 Wattmeter. Looks to be a nice product but considering the price, the product video's left me wondering why they couldn't have just done away with the manually operated analog power range altogether and just had the unit auto-range, plus have the analog meter auto-change its ranges automatically as well. Perhaps we may see those features in the DWM-3. `

Very handy, hands off instrument  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
The wattmeter has many features operators will find helpful. It simultaneously provides for measurement of forward, reflected, and peak power as well as VSWR using digital displays. In addition, there are pseudo- analog displays providing VSWR and forward power - very helpful for tuning a transmitter, power amplifier, or other device. The device is also calibrated with devices traceable to NIST. The color Graphics display makes for a very nice presentation of information. The DWM-2 comes with one directional coupler covering 1-60 MHz, and 2KW power capability.
