update  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
I recently returned it for a 'tune-up'. the impedance was reading way too high.
being done under warranty (1 year, no questions asked).
I have explored other test modes and am fascinated.
amateur radio hasn't lost it's magic for me.

alien technology to me!  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
I haven't been able to fathom all it does, but the things I HAVE been able to suss are great.
the manual (available as a free download from mfj) explains many things. maybe you're supposed to know them before purchasing. example: it has a frequency counter. the frequency of what? no clue.

despite not understanding it entirely, I love it.

mfj offers a dedicated soft case for it (MFJ-29D) $24.95, there is a pocket on the back for adapters (bnc to so-239, etc.) and other things, and comes with a shoulder strap. I shortened it and hang it around my neck with the face of it looking up at me so I can read it hands free.
is easy on batteries, has an automatic sleep mode, and an external power supply (MFJ-1312D) is $12.95.
the 'C' model has extended frequency coverage from the 'B' model.
for me, the needle meter is easier to read than the lcd display.
you can get a 3 piece dip coil set (MFJ-66) for $24.95.

have to take the back cover off (several very small screws) to install/remove the AA batteries.
kinda wish the display lighted.
the tuning knob covers frequencies too fast.

I got mine at ham radio outlet.
I've seen prices as low as $239.95, so shop around.
do download the manual. it will help you make an informed decision.

I mostly use it to tune my buddistick antenna (tapped coil and counterpoise).
