Junk  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Very loose, sloppy, waist of money.
Dumped it quick.
Nice idea if it wasn't made out of tinker toys.
You've been warned.

Pretty good  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
It's not Swiss watch engineering but it is well constructed.
Curiously, and fine for me since I'm a southpaw, it looks to have been intended to mount on the left side of the FT-817. It can be easily mounted on the right, but the logo does not show in that mounting configuration. I have no trouble sending QRQ with this key. The feel reminds me of the old Ham Radio Center Brown Brothers knock offs that were popular in the 70's and 80's. Good. Not great. It is convenient and does the job.

Good for its purpose  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
This is a portable keyer for the FT817. Till this review I didn't had any problems with that. Works great for its purpose. The adjustment knobs do the work. The fact that you can attach to the radio's body is great and gives a nice look. It looks like be easy to fix if you have problems with that (in case you have to open it). The material construct are good and is heavy for its size (which gives the reliable feeling about the quality).

Waste of money!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I bought one of these abominations via the web.
They certainly look the part but that's as far as it goes as they are utter tat.
The pictures do it more justice than it deserves as it's very poorly constructed which, on opening it up, clearly shows. The paddles feel very cheap and likely to shear off. The contacts and gap adjustment assembly is no better than if it had been built from a clothes peg.
There is no keying tension adjustment, simply one for gap size and the springs holding that setting would be more suited for a cheap ballpoint pen than a quite expensive squeeze key.
In the UK they sell for around 32 GBR and that's way more than the things worth. Luckily I didn't pay anywhere near that much for mine but I would have felt very ripped off if I had bought one at the stupidly high asking price..
OK the thing is small and designed for the 817 but I'd rather have a larger key that I could put where I actually want it.
It is truly awful, difficult to keep in adjustment and feels terrible.
Save your money and buy a second hand HiMound or similar.
