Six Happy Years!  Time owned: more than 12 months
Time to go back through the reviews to see what users are saying about this versatile rig. Most of the gripes I see are about known deficiencies. Do people not read reviews or do they just need something to kvetch about?

That being said, this is one of the few rigs that has a 4.5/5.0 rating after such a long period of user experience.

I bought my TS2000(X) as a Tech knowing it was a radio that I could grow into. I used it extensively for satellites, 2M/70CM SSB, MARS operation and 6M.

When I got my Extra, the same radio has served for HF voice and digital mode operation. I am currently setting up a KAM+ TNC for WinLink operation on MARS frequencies.

Excellent  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I won't go long as there are pages of reviews on this rig (which I just heard from a good source is about to be discontinued with no replacement rig in the offing). Just wanted to comment on the rig's autotuner. I have found it will tune antennas that several previous tuners (incoluding LDG and Palstar) would not. Interesting that its autotuner is capable of doing what a good manual tuner wouldn't.

Also, using a Heil HM-10 with high boost (I have a very deep voice) I get unsolicited "great audio" reports.

This is a GREAT Radio  Time owned: more than 12 months
Over the past 6 years I have owned THREE TS-2000 rigs and loved them all. I also have been a huge Icom lover as well. This radio takes a skilled operator and YES, it does work awesome for super tight contesting. The filters narrow right up and pbt helps. This system when properly adjusted rival my IC-756pro.

For all that it does, It DOES well! Tuning oddball wires and condo balconies are a blast with it's excellent tuner.

Also, they are a very coveted used radio as well. They have awesome resale value as well.

works fine  Time owned: more than 12 months
I will be the first to say this is NOT a contest grade radio. If you bought it for that then you made a mistake. However it is fine for the causal user. I like the "Shack in a Box" idea. I have a TS-2000X and have worked all I could hear. Works just fine on digitial modes too. I do not find that the fan is all that noisy, heck there are other things in the room that make a lot more noise. Slowing the fan down means less cooling. So if you have a ts-2000 that you dont like please box it up and send it to me. I will gladly pay the shipping costs!!! :> A IC-7800 it is not but it works just fine for what it is.

Not satisfied  Time owned: more than 12 months
Hello

I am quite dis-satisfied with this device. I bought it, because it seemed to contain everything, and I liked the second receiver for VHF/UHF.

What works fine:
The antenna tuner
The VHF/UHF receiver, except some birdies.
the DSP-Filters NR2 and Beat-Cancel.

What annoys:
The noisy fan, I added a 75 Ohm resistor to quiet it down.
The poor CW-features, you need additonal devices.
The SWR is to optimistic, 1.6 is shown as 1.1
The display looses the SWR each time I use VHF/UHF.
Most DSP-Filters do not work properly.
Bandwidth smaller than 300 Hz produces noises.
The receiver for HF is the ugliest disappointment. Noisy. Why does Kenwood not change the diodes and add a filter? After all these years of complains these enhancements should be known and build in.

"Shack In A Box"  Time owned: more than 12 months
I’ve had my TS 2000x for over 3 years now. I’ve not used the satellite function much, but it does work – it does have a birdie on one of the FM LOSs – so that one is useless. The transmit audio on all bands and modes is excellent I’m told. The DSP does work. The beat canceling is excellent. I lost my sub receiver sensitivity and had to have the board replaced, but believe it was my own fault – since I gather I operated another 2-meter rig whose antenna was to close to this rigs antenna, and I blew the sub out. This radio is small and mainly a “Shack In A Box”. It does it all from HF, 6meters 2m 450, and 1.2 gig, cw, ssb, fm, am, fsk. Connects to a computer with ease. Has 100 watts on 2 meters and has 50 watts on 450, and that’s great! If someone says that these radios do not, or cannot block out a strong close signal – that is not true. One-way to accomplish this is to take menu 20, and change the receive equalizer to Bass Boast. Then change the low cut and high cut filters to bring the audio up higher, and you will notice that the close station is minimized. For a station having a problems hearing you on SSB, well I change the transmit equalizer (menu 21) to the “user” setting, change then the transmit filter bandwidth to 2.0kHz , turn on the speech processor and you can reach anyone. I’ve not had any of the expensive radios near and above the $3,000 mark, but in my opinion for the money – this radio’s a great buy.

ok, but  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I too, had a TS2000, loved the audio, the versatility, but the inboard tuner could not hold a candle to the one in the 570 and the old 440. Those things would tune a frog hair.
And for those who think 3-1 is a satan's threshold, that is true, but this thing had trouble with 2.5-1. I had many instances where the 570 and 440 would tune and the 2000 would get cranky...Just my observation...
I just wish it had a better tuner like the 440 and 570 did. I'd kept it.

Good for HF, bad for some FM Birds  Time owned: more than 12 months
Bought mine for sat work. Good for H.F. Cannot work some FM birds due to "birdie" that blocks out signals on 435.800.
