ok I have a few HI-Q antennas from 5 different model series of HI-Q, this is my second Piranha model,
the other PIRANHA is a 5" with the 40mm lower Stainless Steel mast, this is the NEW 6R-160 the ruggedized version of the 6-160 UNIT, and BOY I mean RUGGERED, this critter has a 2 1/2" lower mast section, everything is BIG about this 6R-160 series, substantially heavier then the 5R-160 By near 6 llbs, the WHIP connect and the WHIP FOLD OVER connector is of a much heavier design, the antenna oozes HI-Q quality, very very fine engineering with a classic HI-Q finish,
Performance wise, well, it speaks for it's self, you would need to be on the receiving end to appreciate the radiated signal, HUGE signal,
terrific on RX,
I mounted the 6R160 on a piece of 20mm solid ally bar, remember if you use BAR larger then 16mm, you will need to get a longer 1/2 " UNF hex stud, original stud is 2", I opted for the 2 1/2", terminated in three locations to the rear steel bumper of a Ford Ranger, I have a Pure Rubber BOA CONSTRICTOR (oil filter grip) as a stabliser/support, just under the massive coil , rock solid,
worth every Brass razoo,
Good luck
