Dead in the water  Time owned: 3 to 6 months
After a month the Soft66q died, the unit got really hot if left plugged into usb. My other RTL based dongles never had this problem. I forgot all about the unit until I saw on *bay they came out with a Soft66q2. I guess they must have fixed problems with the original version.

Good SDR but drops off above 10mhz  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Could be a 5 with a few improvements, the sdr works very well from 3khz to about 10mhz then it's deaf. That being said you still get VLF through 40 meter in one small package. The 66Q has instructions for HDSDR and like any RTL type sdr you will need to do alot of tweeking. There is a 4 position filter switch which also changes a led from yellow, red, green and off, being direct sampling, bandpass filters are a must. Filters seem to work as they should. I really like this sdr because it does go down to 3khz. My other rtl dongles + upverters are more sensitive and have a wider range, but they don't go low as the 66Q. If your looking for 20m coverage and up this may not be for you, however it will make you happy from DC to 10mhz
