Reviews Summary for bhi DESKTOP
bhi DESKTOP Reviews: 3 Average rating: 4.3/5 MSRP: $249
Description: The bhi DESKTOP speaker is a microprocessor controlled amplified DSP noise cancelling base station speaker that removes noise and interference to improve the quality of speech in noisy radio and voice communications. It is suitable for use in base station applications where background noise and interference mean that you cannot clearly hear what is being said. The speaker will enable the user to listen and concentrate “stress-free”. Runs on 12 - 18 VDC. Gives up to 10 Watts audio (peak).
Product is in production.

Not the greatest but ok  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Bought it quite recently after being fade up of trying to address noise in my neighborhood. It does eliminate the atmospheric static well. However it produces weird artifacts. Specially at higher volumes. Sounds like there is water running in the background:) Secondly when you are talking on the microphone and as soon as you key up there is a loud noise burst which then dies down as DSP engages but its extremely annoying and stays till you turn the volume way down defeating the point of buying an amplifier speaker.

Best Speaker to date  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Picked one of these speakers up at the UK Ham fest in Newark... £160.00

Total pleasure to listen to.. have mine set turned on all the time and use the minimum setting unless the band gets a bit noisy and I turn it up a bit. Excellent audio in its own right even without the filters. Good purchase and will be keeping this one for sure.

Great base station speaker with DSP  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
On the bhi home page you can find the user manual, review from QST, audio files, dealers etc. No need to repeat all details here.

Due to a "noisy location" (plenty of neighbors creating broadband noise all over short-wave bands), I gave up trying to find the noise sources. Instead I attacked the problem on the audio side to keep it simple. The NR function in my TS-590S is not effective enough. I am very satisfied with the performance of the bhi DESKTOP. Listening to, and working, SSB is much improved.

My antenna is an end-fed 40 foot wire which may be the reason for needing to install ferrite cores on the cables to the speaker to cure RF problem. Information about this subject is placed in the FAQ on the web-page. I assume that with other antenna type there would be no problem.
