Compact easy to use & great value  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I developed the TenaTesta to tune my OFC HF antenna and have been extremity pleased with the results. It can sweep an antenna from 100kHz to 150MHz simply set start and stop frequencies, double click start and before you know it a nice colour graph shows forward, reverse and SWR. It also indicates the best SWR frequency. It can generate RF over the same range (and beyond). The output is a square wave with 4 selectable output levels up to around +3.5dBm its rich in harmonics way past 1GHz. Up to the 7th harmonic is displayed on the generator screen along with wavelength so you can work out lengths and stuff. Another great generator feature is that it actively shows the SWR of the antenna (or device) connected! As you trim the antenna, you can instantly see the SWR change! No need to completely re-sweep. Great for whips and the like. Just be careful your body impedance doesn't interact with your results its pretty sensitive. Also on the generator screen, when the generator is turned off, it can measure any RF applies to the antenna port. Its nothing fancy and not accurate enough to report real dBm but it is sensitive and great for peaking oscillator buffers. It's good to around +3dBm (0.002W) and it works way past 500MHz. You could of coarse attach an attenuator in line if you wanted to measure higher power levels. Oh and if you plug it into your PC, it comes up as a serial device. When its sweeping SWR, the sweep data is sent over the serial port so you can capture and plot it on a spread sheet. All in all a little handy device for the shack. But it is not an Rhode & Schwarz, HP or Marconi it does packs a punch way bigger than its price point!
