Very nice older receiver  Time owned: more than 12 months
This receiver is like the FRdx-400SD I reviewed yesterday. Nothing is perfect and like the 400SD, if possible, I'd give this a 4.5, also.

The FR-101S has an analog dial. The digital dial version is the 101D, the 101SD is a fully equipped version.
Mine was in exceptional shape and works perfectly. For some reason, it had the FM Detector, but was missing the FM filter. Easy enough to find. This radio has the more modern, rounded covers, unlike the sharp angular version of the older 400 series.

Being an 'old timer', I actually like the sound of the 400 (tube version) better. Just my old ears, I guess. Both radios have all the sensitivity anyone could ever need. I haven't yet tried the VHF converters, too many other projects...
Like with the 400SD, I actually had the matching speaker in my collection and had Stan (W6ON) make me a set of his custom covers.
Yet another keeper......
