Chinese knock off version  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
MC HF SDR 918 Chinese QRP Radio

You really get a lot for your money with this little guy. Its big selling point for me is the real time pan adaptor. The radio has a lot of features.

Keeping in mind, itís not an Elecraft KX3 that cost over three times the amount without a pan adaptor, for $460 you get a lot.

The upside:
The quality is pretty good. Nice rugged package
The pan adaptor is a big selling point
Cost is very reasonable for what you get
Selectable tuning rates down to 1 hz
Noise reduction works pretty good.
CW bandwidth choice of 300 hz and 500 hz. You can go wider if you like
Sensitivity is very good
Nice metering
Good receive audio

The downside for this radio is:
No internal battery
No internal antenna tuner
Very menu driven
The firmware is poorly written.

I think they could have done a better job writting the manual.

Amazing SDR Radio kit  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I completed assembly last week end and run my first QSOs. Its definitely not a beginner a la Heathkit kit. Kit has all the SMD parts soldered you need to provide a couple of RD16HHF1 transistors and the case. (there is a nice fitting one on rather quasi fitting, you understand. Once all componnts are placed, bootloader loaded, firmware loaded, then wow, so many radio for that money, amazing, really. goes from 80m to 10m monitors and corrects drift from si570 LO.
